welcome to the blog. Great to be running during dental school. I made a big mistake and never exercised much in med school and came out stressed and weak. Good luck with your running goals.

I decided to stop at the halfway/turn around point of my run along the trail.  A kid's baseball game was going on and I couldn't resist to stop and watch a couple half-innings.  It took me back to the days when I was young and watched my brother swing the bat.  Seeing him be so involved inspired me to be active; I always wanted to keep up with my big brother.  I also saw a little blonde girl in her bathing suit with ballerina slippers on swinging the bat on the sidelines just like the boys - spitting image of my childhood.  It was absolutely great to stop and truly take in the surroundings.  I hope other runners are able to take in their environment as much as I; to stop, take a deep breath, and appreciate life.

Wonderful thoughts! When we are little we cannot possibly see the runner go by and contemplate our future selves, but the opposite can happen! Thanks for sharing. Good run!

Hi, Gretchen! Welcome to the blog. I love that you took the time to enjoy your run. I usually make my run take me around Scudder Pond, a local area where kids under 14 get to fish! I like to see them so intent on catching a big one.

My brother just finished dental school in Ohio. I wonder if you went to the same school???

Good luck with everything! Way to ENJOY your run.

Words of wisdom: "to stop, take a deep breath, and appreciate life." I love it! Great job on getting in the runs this week! :)

Eh, just an okay run today....I'm not exactly sure how far I went but 4.5 sounds about right.  Seeing the same trees on the path today did not interest me so I did  a little something different.  To mix it up a bit, I ran up and down stairs of a bridge 5 times just to challenge my legs a little.  It was refreshing to explore something new - I need to find some new routes!!  On another note, the tool on here to plan out your run is very intriguing...I had no idea my "usual run" is 6.33 miles!!  Makes me feel kinda good : )  Now for some Simpsons (yay!) and virulence factors (yuck!).

A monsoon hit the city yesterday so in place of my run I jump roped for 15 minutes (harder than you would think), lifted, and did some stationary bike for 35 minutes.  When I woke up today, my calves  tingled, my arms are soar, and as I rotate my trunk I feel it-yes!  I must have done something right yesterday : )  Sometimes I question whether I am even challenging myself when all I do is run- so the soar feeling is almost refreshing.  Actually, it made my run enjoyable today.  I could feel my abs working as I climbed inclines and sprinted in stretches - yes, very nice indeed : )
